Christmas tree collections in aid of St Ann’s Hospice expanded to new areas

Don’t miss out on St Ann’s Hospice Christmas tree collections – your chance to Reduce, Reuse & recycle.

St Ann’s Hospice is encouraging people to not miss out on the chance to get their Christmas tree collected and recycled in January.

St Ann’s Hospice is working with national charity JustHelping to organise Christmas tree collections in local areas, which will raise money for St Ann’s as well as other small local non-profits and community organisations. The collections have been run by community volunteers, sponsors and donors for nine years.

This year they’ve added new postcode areas they can collect from in Stockport!

The tree collections will be taking place in the following Stockport post code areas:

  • SK1, SK2, SK3, SK4, SK5, SK6, SK7, SK8

Trees will be collected by volunteers between 12th and 15th January. The collections are a great way to dispose of your Christmas tree in a stress-free and sustainable way – they protect the environment by having your tree recycled at the same time.

The Christmas trees are shredded into chippings at their destinations, Wythenshawe Park and Wardley Hall, which are then used on site for flower beds and pathways.

In previous years, Christmas tree collections have raised over £50,000 for the patients and families St Ann’s Hospice supports.

Rachel McMillan, Chief Executive of St Ann’s says:

“We were blown away to have made such an incredible amount from the 2021 tree collections, which shows the amazing impact of community spirit. We’re hugely thankful to JustHelping, the army of volunteers who support them, and everyone who makes a donation. We encourage anyone that lives in one of the eligible postcodes to sign up!”

For more information on how to have your tree for collected, please see our website here www.sah.org.uk/christmastree. The deadline for registering your Christmas tree is Sunday 8th January, but we encourage people to register as soon as possible.
