Stockport’s Erica Davis makes history on Mount Kilimanjaro

Stockport resident, Erica Davis, has made history as the first solo Black British woman to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Originally from Jamaica, Erica has lived in Stockport for nearly 30 years, first in Marple and now in Romiley. A mother of three and grandmother of three, she has built a life rooted in education, community, and adventure. After working in banking and retraining as a youth development teacher, Erica has supported various local groups as a dedicated volunteer.

Erica is a passionate walker and has completed treks in England, Cuba, Kenya, and Jamaica – but her recent Kilimanjaro climb marks her most ambitious challenge yet.

Erica’s story reminds us that trailblazers can come from right next door – from people quietly making a difference in their communities, until one day, they stand on top of a mountain.

Well done Erica!
