Warm & Well returns to support Stockport residents this winter
The clocks are going back, which means it’s also time to welcome back One Stockport’s Warm & Well initiative for another year.
Led by One Stockport in partnership with local organisations, Warm & Well aims to keep everyone in Stockport safe, happy and healthy over the winter months. It’s based around 3 key themes: looking after yourself, looking after your home and looking after others. Visit our Warm & Well webpage to find out more.
This year, the initiative also links with Live Well – We’re here when you need us, which brings together free support and information about money, food, energy, housing, work, digital access, family life and wellbeing.
The difference this support can make is clear.
In 2025/26, Stockport Council and trusted partners helped Stockport residents access an additional £28 million through one-off payments, debts written off and recurring benefits.
One of these people is Alan, from Romiley, who got free help from the council’s welfare rights team at a friendly social morning run by Stockport County Community Trust. After applying for a Personal Independence Payment with their support, Alan was awarded enhanced rates for both daily living and mobility. He also received a backdated payment of £650.50. Altogether, the outcome increased his income by £117.90 a week, worth more than £6,000 a year.
“I wasn’t sure what support I might be entitled to,” says Alan. “The advice I received helped me understand the process and access support that will make a real difference to my independence and wellbeing. Words cannot say how much it means to me.”
