Stockport health and fitness centre continues award-winning streak
Stockport Health and Fitness Centre is celebrating another major award after being recognised for creating a welcoming, supportive space for women to exercise.
Stockport Health and Fitness Centre, a ladies-only gym, has been named Ladies Only Fitness Centre of the Year by E2 Media, adding to a growing list of accolades for the much-loved community space.
Founded in 2016 by Purnima, the centre was created to offer women a comfortable, relaxed environment to enjoy low-impact exercise. Purnima’s vision was shaped by her own experience of living with chronic pain and discovering how exercise can play a vital role in managing it.

Since opening, the centre has grown into far more than just a gym. Women of all ages come together not only to stay active, but to socialise and connect, with a programme that includes day trips and social events alongside fitness sessions.
The latest award follows a Stockport Mayor’s Award for Outstanding Community Spirit and a Certificate of Excellence from the Prestige Awards last year, highlighting the centre’s continued impact on women’s health and wellbeing across the borough.
Purnima said:
“I wanted to create a space where women feel comfortable, supported and confident to exercise and socialise. To receive this recognition is amazing, and I hope it encourages even more women to come along and give it a try.”
