Stockport sparkles even after dark
Our town has retained its prestigious Purple Flag status and remains one of the safest places in the region for a night out.
This recognition means that Stockport is not just a great place to live, but also a fantastic destination to enjoy after dark. Whether you’re grabbing a bite to eat at the Produce Hall, catching live entertainment at the Plaza, or simply soaking up the town’s lively atmosphere, Stockport has something for everyone!
The Purple Flag standard, which applies to towns and cities between 5pm and 5am, highlights Stockport’s dedication to creating a safe and enjoyable atmosphere. With well-lit streets, excellent transport links, and a wide range of food, drink, and cultural hotspots, Stockport makes sure you can enjoy yourself with peace of mind.
Key successes in Stockport’s submission include the town’s impressive new award-winning public transport interchange, which seamlessly integrates modern new apartments and an urban park and event space, as well as the creative use of uplighters throughout the town centre, enhancing both the safety and visitor experience.
Jon Dootson, owner of The White Lion and Alfredo’s, said:
“Stockport’s night-time offer has transformed, and we’re proud to be part of its journey. Restoring The White Lion has been a fantastic experience, and it’s great to see so many people enjoying the town after dark.”
