Half Term Holiday Fun in Stockport
Families in Stockport can make the most of half term by exploring a wide range of activities on offer across the borough, and enjoy a week full of fun, creativity, and adventure.
There’s activities for all ages from Halloween crafts and creative workshops, or why not plan your own outdoor adventure in one of Stockport’s beautiful parks, which are perfect for exploring during autumn. There are plenty of opportunities to get active, embrace nature, and make this half term one to remember!
- Stockport Museum is offering spooky Halloween crafts from 19–27 October. Families can drop in for some hands-on, Halloween-themed creative fun. The museum is open from 10am–5pm (Tuesday–Saturday) and 11am–4pm (Sunday).
- MadLab is hosting a series of tech workshops at Stockport Museum for children aged 7 and up from 23 – 25 October. These workshops include coding, exploring the world of Minecraft, and building robots. The workshops are completely free, with a small refundable deposit to secure your place. - The Witch’s Potion Trail at Bramall Hall offers a spooky adventure for younger children. Running from 20 October to 3 November, the trail invites participants to help Batilda the witch gather ingredients scattered around the hall to make her Halloween potion. The trail is recommended for children aged 3 and up, and those who find all the ingredients will receive a small prize, with the chance to meet Batilda herself. Stockport Libraries have something for all the family to enjoy this half term. Just drop in, no need to pre-book unless otherwise stated.
- Creature comforts crafting event at Edgeley Library: Monday 21st October, 2pm – 3pm. Following Storytime, children can craft their own bat or spider in this fun, spooky-themed event.
- Decorate your own moneybox at Bredbury Library: Monday 21st October, 2pm – 3pm. Unleash your creativity and design your own money box with help from friendly money experts. Free to attend thanks to the Skylight Community Fund. Suitable for all ages.
- Children’s author event at Hazel Grove Library: Tuesday 22nd October, 11:00am. Join local author and illustrator Jane Preece at Storytime for a fun session..
- Creating a VR experience (online): Tuesday 22nd October, 5:30pm – 6:30pm. Lost in a VR world? This accessible talk by Birmingham Open Media (BOM) takes you through the process of creating the Black British Ballet virtual reality experience. Ideal for teens.
- Hush Hush Disco at Stockport Central Library: Wednesday 23rd October, 2pm – 5pm. A relaxing, creative event for all ages featuring live music, silent disco headphones, and the chance to paint or draw. Book your tickets at Rising Stars NW. Ideal for teens.
- Halloween crafting event at The Heatons Library: Thursday 24th October, 11am – 1pm. Join us at The Heatons Library for some spooky fun, making pumpkin masks and night time sky collages! Perfect to get into the Halloween spirit.
- Decorate your own moneybox at High Lane Library: Friday 25th October, 2pm – 3pm. Another opportunity to get creative with your own money box, supported by the Skylight Community Fund. Open to all ages.
- Spooky Silent Disco at Edgeley Library: Saturday 26th October, 2pm – 4pm. Boogie down to spooky tunes, enjoy sweet treats, and join the costume contest. Cost is £2 per dancer (babies and non-dancers are free). Book your tickets here: Spooky Disco. Fun for the whole family!
Stockport’s libraries will also be open throughout the half-term week, offering free books, jigsaws, board games, and access to free PCs and Wi-Fi. For younger children, regular Storytime sessions will be available, featuring stories, songs, and crafts.
