Stockport & Trafford College take part Planet Earth Games

Students from the Stockport and Trafford College Group have, over the past academic year, been taking part in competitive activities for Planet Earth Games.

Students from the colleges entered in a UK-wide Competition against other colleges called Planet Earth Games which was all about encouraging young people to put on a range of activities based around sustainability.

The college’s Climate Champions launched the competition at the Student Conference, with over 659 students taking part in over 14 activities.

Some of the activities included:

  • Bird Boxes made by carpentry and joinery students made Bird Boxes
  • SUEZ delivered an online webinar about waste in Greater Manchester
  • Sustrans came in to deliver a workshop about active travel and volunteering.

At the results announcement, the student’s standout activity was from members of the Green College Assembly who undertook Carbon Literacy Training delivered by Climate Action Now from Stockport Council.

The students were delighted to come 4th overall in the competition out of over 30 colleges and are are looking forward to getting involved next year.
