As a tenant, local organiser, and activist, Ged is speaking up for LGBTQ+ tenants with Rainbow Roofs North, a social housing forum and support network across Stockport and the North West. They are a leading voice in local housing, making sure that LGBTQ+ residents are heard, supported and included.
Through monthly get-togethers for members to share experiences and build connections, Rainbow Roofs helps to shape a safer, more inclusive housing sector.
Ged is at the forefront of their work on the ground, supporting coffee mornings and socials, speaking at housing conferences and webinars, and representing the group at Pride events across the region.
If that weren’t enough, Ged is also chair of the Stockport Homes Group (SHG) Complaints Advisory Panel. In this role they shine a light on the experiences of tenants and champion genuine improvements in services.
Earlier this year, Ged was awarded the prestigious Tenant of the Year award at the Housing Heroes Awards 2026. The award recognised their tireless efforts to improve housing services in Stockport, having totted up an incredible 115 hours of customer- focused work in the last year alone.
Ged believes that everyone deserves to feel safe, comfortable and able to be themselves in their home – and their tireless work is helping to make that possible.

Across our borough, countless individuals are giving their time, sharing their skills and helping others to feel connected, supported and proud of where they live. We want to celebrate them.
Do you know someone who’s making a difference in your community? Help us tell their story by nominating them for #WeAreOneStockport.
Together, we’re celebrating the people who power Stockport – and showing what’s possible when we all play our part in creating One Stockport.
