Nominate a local hero: Stockport’s 2026 Race and Culture Awards nominations now open!

Nominations for Stockport’s 2026 Race and Culture Awards are now open, inviting you to celebrate those making a real difference in our Borough.

Each year these awards shed light on individuals and groups in the community who fight for positive change, nurture diversity and challenge racial and cultural barriers. The annual awards are dedicated to people from all walks of life, honouring the quiet changemakers in our community whose efforts help to shape a better future for everyone.

Whether they’re community volunteers who go above and beyond, or local leaders whose daily activities advocate for change, all efforts deserve to be recognised. It’s your nominations that help to ensure their work doesn’t go unnoticed.

The Race and Culture Awards annually bring together diverse voices and showcase the importance of an empowering, inclusive community. The 2025 event applauded individuals and groups, such as Stockport Council’s Charlee Fitzgerald and Ray Channer, who are pictured above with 2024 winner Karishma Chandara.

So if you know anyone whose work deserves recognition, make sure you nominate them here.
