Celebrating Diversity and Excellence: The Stockport Race and Culture Awards
The 2025 Stockport Race and Culture Awards took place on Friday 7 February at Stockport Town Hall.
The annual awards celebrates the outstanding efforts that organisations and individuals have made to advancing racial and cultural awareness across Stockport. Each year, they bring together a diverse range of voices and highlight the importance of an inclusive environment that uplifts people from all backgrounds.
This year’s ceremony was opened by Stockport Council Deputy Leader Cllr Mark Roberts and presented once again by the dynamic Carol Ann Whitehead.
Aba Graham, Chief Executive of the Stockport Race and Equality Partnership, said:
“The Stockport Race and Cultural Awards is more than just an accolade—it’s a celebration of dedication and commitment for change, and a call to reimagine the community we call ‘One Stockport’. SRACA transforms not only the dichotomy of power and representation but also the hearts and minds that shape our future. Through recognition, we uplift; through change, we unite.”
The ceremony was accompanied by some incredible musical acts including an electric closing performance by local reggae band Ruff Trade.
Nights like this are a wonderful showcase of the rich cultural diversity that we have here in Stockport, and a brilliant way to celebrate those who make our borough safer, stronger and more vibrant.
