Stockport’s Mayor Opens Carved Wooden Animal Trail in Abney Park
Stockport’s Mayor, Councillor Suzanne Wyatt, had the pleasure of opening the new carved wooden animal trail in Abney Park in Cheadle.
Chris Julian from Friends of Abney Hall Park Group has shared the events of the day:
“On Sunday 25th August, people gathered at Abney Cafe, in Abney Hall Park, to welcome our very own Mayor of Stockport to officially open the wooden animal carvings that now form a trail in the park.
“The carvings were organised by The Friends of Abney Hall Park Group, using funding from the Stockport Council COVID Memorial Fund.
“They have been such a positive addition to this well-loved green-space, and it was great to see so many friends and families who were there for the opening ceremony too.
“The Mayor snipped the ribbon by the bear, after a few words on how important our parks are to everyone in the local community. She then was taken on a tour of the carvings trail and was delighted by the variety of wild animals! The Bear was named as Hercule on the day too! (The naming ceremony was organised by Abney Cafe).
