The Friends of Reddish South Station’s Coffee Morning raises funds for Macmillan

The Friends of Reddish South Station took part in the ‘Biggest Coffee Morning in the World’ and raised a total of £315.40 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

That is just one of the stories featured in the latest edition of their newsletter!

The raffle itself raised £129 at the coffee morning and welcomed Ian Ball from Friends of Handforth Station, Alf Clarke from Romiley Staton, who was joined by his wife Angie, and Roy Chapman, of Crewe-Manchester Community Rail Partnership. Stockport Mayor Graham Greenhalgh and Mayoress Carol Greenhalgh lent some gravitas to proceedings.

Reddish North Councillors Dave Wilson, Rachel Wise and Holly McCormack also popped in to offer their support having earlier been at a community gardening event.

Raffle winners, drawn at Sykes Café, included first prize winner Jake Ashworth who won a handcrafted-Christmas stocking; 2nd prize went to Mr Eamonn O’Neil who took home a bottle of Houses of Parliament Whisky and third prize of a bottle of prosecco was won by Cllr David Wilson.

The Vernon Building Society Funding Award to The Friends of Reddish South Station

October 2023 Autumn newsletter

The Friends were delighted when the Vernon Building Society announced that they had been successful in the annual funding awards for local community groups and charities.

The Friends were awarded £200 which they plan to spend on updating station banners, which are looking rather dated.
Lyndsy, the branch manager is pictured here presenting the award to Treasurer Dot. The Vernon have been long-time supporters of the Friends.
