Author Terry Caffrey visits local charity to inspire future writers

The award-winning poet and lyricist Terry Caffrey visited one of the Together Trust’s specialist provisions for autistic children, Inscape House School in Cheadle.

During the visit, Terry (pictured below) read from his entertaining book of poems, “It Wasn’t Me Miss”, and gave students a glimpse into the world of an author, hoping to inspire them with their reading and writing.

Apart from giving our learners tips on how to be a creative writer, the young enthusiasts had the opportunity to participate in engaging poetry and writing workshops. The students were challenged to come up with their kenning poems linked to their curriculum and English classes.

The students evidently enjoyed the day:

Commenting on the day, Terry shared that he likes to help teachers build up new, engaging ways to spark the children’s interest in reading and writing and that the most inspiring people he has met in his life are namely young boys and girls such as the talented students at Inscape House School.

Students who attended the workshops also received a certificate for participation.
