10th – 16th May: Mental Health Awareness Week in Stockport

Mental Health Awareness week is a chance for us all in Stockport to focus on the things we can do to look after our own and others’ mental health and wellbeing.

Mental Health Awareness Week is taking place from 10 to 16 May 2021 – a good time to remember that mental health is part of everyone’s health and wellbeing.

The pandemic has significantly impacted on the daily lives of everybody living or working in Stockport and we’ve all had our individual struggles through this unusual and difficult year. Being aware of our own mental health and the wellbeing of those around us has never been so important.

Mental Health Awareness week is a chance for us all in Stockport to focus on the things we can do to look after our own and others’ mental health and wellbeing.  Watch out on our One Stockport social media and news pages for hints and tips and information to help you do this.

Every day we’ll be sharing ideas around each of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing and how to incorporate these into your daily life. We’ll also share with you tips to have good conversations with others about how they’re feeling and what you can do to support them.

Share your photos – upload your photos to your own social media pages using the hashtag #mindfulMaySK and @OneStockport

This year’s theme for Mental Health Awareness week is nature and over the last year we’ve seen just how helpful this can be to people’s mental health, being able to go out for walks or be outside in gardens, or enjoy caring for plants or pets, or the environment.

We would love everyone in Stockport to get involved in celebrating the nature in our lives by sharing on Instagram images/videos/or just sound recordings of the nature on your doorstep (and how this made you feel).  Let’s help inspire others to connect with nature.
Please post your photos on Instagram and use the hashtags #MindfulMaySK #onestockport
