Stockport College offers online courses for grown-ups
The college launched a number of online courses in April and has since expanded the range of subjects on offer. All courses are fully-funded, and free for over-19s with at least 3 years residency in the UK.
As lockdown returns, in many ways this one is different. Schools will stay open and children will be in school during the day – is this an ideal opportunity for parents raring to learn new skills to look at online courses. This could be our time to home-school ourselves!
Anyone can learn something new at home while the kids do the same in the classroom.
Stockport College uses its own online distance learning platform to deliver courses with lessons, assignments, resources and materials all included. Tutors are also available to guide learners every step of the way in working towards a recognised qualification at their own pace.
The accredited qualifications can be studied fully at home, with topics including:

- Understanding Data Protection and Security
- Digital Skills for Work

- Excellence in Customer service for Hospitality
- Information, Advice or Guidance

- Awareness of Mental Health Problems
- Retail Operations
- Principles of Team Leading
As well as training for those in office settings, Stockport College is also running a number of online learning courses for workers in the healthcare sector including in infection control, adult social care and working with individuals with learning difficulties or mental health needs.
To further help local people into work, Stockport College has also launched a range of Level 1 community courses to provide employability skills to prepare learners for the working environment.
