The Stockport Music Map Walking Tour
Join The Stockport Music Map Walking Tour and discover Stockport’s music history with insight from acclaimed music journalist and author Mick Middles.
Mick grew up in Stockport and was a regular contributor to Sounds music paper. He wrote the first book on The Smiths and biographies on many Manchester music luminaries including Joy Division, New Order, The Stone Roses, Tony Wilson, Mick Hucknall and Mark E Smith.
The tour meets at the historic Red Bull pub on Middle Hillgate. Ticket price includes a bacon butty (or vegan option) on arrival at the Red Bull at midday (please note drinks not included).
The Tour will start at the Red Bull with a welcome by your tour guides John Barratt and Dr ‘Strawberry’ Peter Wadsworth
At 12.30pm approx the tour will leave the Red Bull to take in the landmarks that played a significant part in The Stockport Music Story from the 1960’s to the present day.
The tour will conclude at Stockport Museum where there is an opportunity to see the Strawberry Studios exhibition and to take part in a Q&A in the Education Room with Mick Middles. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be included in the ticket price. Prints of Stockport Music Map can be purchased from the Stockport Museum shop.
