Make Stuff: Fashion Fusion with House of Voya

Dive into all things fashion in this immersive experience, led by renowned fashion designer Temores Demores: founder of Art School and Creative Director of House of Voya. Combine the artistry of non-binary fashion design with the digital world, in this hands-on journey into creativity.

You’ll get to:
-Use sustainable practices to transform pre-loved garments and materials into personal fashion statements reflecting your individual style
-Take to the streets of Stockport and capture your creations in unique ways on your mobile phone
-Curate your work into magazine-style layouts and bring your fashion stories to life through captivating imagery
-Nurture your creative instincts and learn some valuable digital skills on this unforgettable day of fashion, innovation, and community building.

What you’ll learn:
-Sustainable fashion practices and upcycling techniques
-Composition, framing and creative techniques for fashion photography
-Outdoor photography skills, capturing subjects in diverse environments
-Digital design proficiency
-Developing essential skills for the digital landscape in the creative industries
-Crafting magazine-style layouts and edits
-We’ll use video editor, ClipChamp

Who’s this for?
-Ages 18 and over
-Anyone who wants to dive into creativity head first! This is a beginner level workshop: whether you’re an aspiring fashion designer, photographer enthusiast or into sustainable fashion, this workshop is for you.

What you need to bring:
-One piece of old clothing you’re happy to customise
-A personal phone or photo-taking device for individual photography
-Where possible, please create a ClipChamp profile ahead of the workshop: https://clipchamp.com/en/
-A laptop that can connect to the internet for digital design activities
-Any piece of research or inspirational content, e.g. magazines, song lyrics or items that spark your imagination (optional)

Cost
Tickets cost £3. After the event, you can choose to be refunded or donate your ticket to MadLab CIC to support future community-led events. Refunds will be processed within seven working days. If you cannot afford a ticket, we may be able to provide a bursary. Please email makestuff@madlab.org.uk with your name and postcode, and we will be in touch.
