Make Stuff: Create a video game

Learn all about game design and how to develop a Game Boy-style game in this workshop.

You will be taken through the creative process for developing a short video game, from asset creation to publishing it online.

You’ll use GB Studio: a user-friendly engine that lets you bring your pixelated dreams to life on the iconic Game Boy platform.

This workshop is catered for anyone aged 15 and over. Coding knowledge is not required.

Please note: you will need to attend both days:

• 3 February from 10am to 1pm: an intro to GB Studio, its capabilities, and some example games, moving onto asset creation to create characters, environments, objects, and more
• 4 February from 10am to 1pm: a deep dive into GB Studio, importing the assets created on day 1, and programming interactivity using the engine’s easy-to-use visual scripting tool
