Vernon Mill Artists are celebrating their 25th anniversary and will be having a special Arts and Culture Open Weekend from Friday 13th until Sunday 15th of September.
The artists of Vernon Mill will open their studios and invited guests will entertain with live music from The Rock Choir, Book reading and performance poetry amongst other events.
The Friday night will feature the artists’ traditional preview night with open studios and a live DJ set to provide a party atmosphere.
On Saturday and Sunday visitors can continue to enjoy the open studios and also free art workshops, talks, live music, poetry performances and a children’s story time and colouring event.
On Saturday and Sunday the third floor will also be open to visitors as one of the national Heritage Open Day Events.
Special guest David Edwards Hulme will read from his highly interesting and informative book ‘Fire’ which tells the reader about working in the Vernon Mills complex when it was first built and narrates the detail of the fire of 1902 when many were killed or injured. Copies of the book will also be available to buy.
The whole event is FREE and refreshments will be available.

Throughout Saturday and Sunday – workshops on making wire animals with Rose Brown, 5 minute portraits with Lindi Kirwin and Pauline Wiltshire, come and try our Lowry Themed ‘selfie board’.
