Since it started in 2013, Art Battle Manchester has delivered 20 sold-out events, never using the same venue twice.
Art Battle Manchester are celebrating their 10-year anniversary with a big party. A party in a park. A carpark. They love an unconventional venue, so it is only fitting that they host their party in a brutalist 1960’s concrete multi-storey carpark in Merseyway.
Following on from last year’s sell-out takeover of Stockport Debenhams where 1,000 local people descended into town to witness live artwork creation, street food, pop-up bars and even some members of Blossoms pick up a paintbrush for the first time since primary school. As Stockport is reigning Town of Culture, this the perfect time to get your creative juices flowing and join them in one of Stockport’s iconic car parks.
Art Battle will feature ten new fearless artists taking centre stage. A capacity crowd will watch painters, illustrators, tattooists and street artists go head-to-head in what has been described as the city’s most energetic art event. With only 30 minutes to create a masterpiece – YOU will decide who is crowned Champion.
Co-Founder John Macaulay explained
“In addition to the high-energy live painting competition, we’ll be joined by some of Stockport’s finest independent traders, serving a vast array of food and drink. The town has really got behind us again and there will be a party atmosphere on the night to celebrate our 10th birthday”
Supported by Totally Stockport and Stockport Council, this will be the first event held in one of Stockport town centre’s multistorey carparks. The 1960’s brutalist masterpiece was designed by Marple-born muralist and sculpture, Alan Boyson. It is hoped that the event will connect back to the creative history of its creator.
Since it started in 2013, Art Battle Manchester has delivered over 20 sold-out events, never using the same venue twice. They clearly have a penchant for bringing the off-beat lively event to landmark buildings, as recent venues include London Road Fire Station, Albert Hall, The Royal Exchange, Victoria Baths, Escape to Freight Island, and an array of historic mills and warehouses.
Art Battle Manchester XXII – Party In The (car) Park – will feature ten new fearless artists taking centre stage. A capacity crowd will watch painters, illustrators, tattooists and street artists go head-to-head in what has been described as the city’s most energetic art event. With only 30 minutes to create a masterpiece – YOU will decide who is crowned Champion.
