Intaglio Printmaking Workshop hosted by Alan Birch
11th August 2024 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
£12

Why not try Intaglio Printmaking?
What to expect: Alan will be leading a group of artists on dry point printmaking which is an intaglio technique in which an image is incised onto a plate with a sharp metal needle such as an etching tool. The lines produced by the etching tool form burr’s which are thrown up edges of the incised line. The burr will hold the ink creating a soft print. Each artist will be given a 7 x 5 inch plastic Perspex plate to work on.
The artist would then place a drawing they have prepared underneath the plate and create an impression in the Perspex using an etching tool. Each artist would have the opportunity to create a couple of prints and then print a final print on high quality printing paper.
About the artist: Alan is an professional artist/printmaker/tutor working out of Prospect Studios in Waterfoot, Lancashire. Alan works predominantly in print, but has worked with a variety of other media including drawing, metal and digital images. Alan’s work is imbued with his own unique sense of humour, offering a personal view on the contemporary world. alanbirch.co.uk
