Stockport Museums Heritage Open Days 2023
Stockport Museums are hosting a range of Heritage Open Days across Stockport from the 8th – 15th of September.

Friday 8th & Saturday 9th – The Hat Works – Tour of The Factory Floor
- Take a Taster Tour of the Factory Floor to give a flavour of Stockport’s hatting history.
This is a story where creativity, ingenuity and skill collided to build a global industry.
FREE – Please book to guarantee your place: 10am, 11am, 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm

Friday 8th & Sunday 10th – Bramall Hall – Self-guided Visits
- Explore Bramall Hall, one of England’s finest timber-framed manor houses.
Learn more about the lives of people who lived and worked at the Hall and take in some exceptional architectural features.
Don’t miss the Solar and the Hall’s sensational suite of Tudor wall paintings, they are of international importance and there is nothing quite like them in England.
You can also try your hand at the favourite Victorian leisure activity – Brass Rubbing in our banqueting room thanks to the Friends of Bramall Hall.

Saturday 9th September – The Hat Works – Junk Model Your Own Machine
- Inspired by Stockport’s Great Frogtastic Invention Trail we’ve been taking a fresh look at our amazing machines on the Factory Floor!
Come and create your own hatting machine out of stuff that would usually be thrown away.
Open to everyone

Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th – Stockport Museum – Junk Interventions!
- Inspired by Stockport’s Great Frogtastic Invention Trail use some junk materials to create your own invention. Free and open to everyone.

- MEET AT: Plaza Theatre, Mersey Square, Stockport, SK1 1SP at 11am or 2pm
Discover why Stockport looks like it does on this fascinating town centre walking tour. Join us to learn how local industry, town planning and ideas about modernism shaped Stockport.
Take a trip through 100 years of Stockport’s architectural history, from the creation of Merseyway to the newest buildings in the town’s redevelopment. Commercial and civic buildings past and present. Charting the ups and downs of industry and culture, up and down the town’s topography.
