Stockport College awarded ‘Exceptional’ status by National Network for the Education of Care Leavers

Trafford & Stockport College Group is celebrating a standout achievement after being awarded ‘Exceptional’ status by the National Network for the Education of Care Leavers (NNECL), marking it as a national leader in supporting care-experienced learners.

The coveted NNECL Quality Mark, awarded following a rigorous assessment, highlights the Group’s unwavering dedication to helping vulnerable and care-experienced students succeed. The College Group excelled particularly in Section 7 of the assessment – focused on student support—earning the highest possible rating: Exceptional.

Shaun Deakin, Head of Learner Services, expressed his pride in the accolade:
“This is a huge milestone for us. Achieving ‘Exceptional’ status not only reflects the dedication of our teams but also our ongoing mission to create a nurturing environment where care-experienced students can truly thrive.”

The recognition applauds the College Group’s inclusive culture, robust partnerships, and targeted support services that empower care leavers, estranged learners, and asylum-seeking students.
