Stockport businesses invited to support teams with Healthy Heart Check
Stockport businesses are invited to support their teams’ cardiovascular health with a workplace visit from the council’s Healthy Heart Check team.
Stockport Council’s Public Health Team have secured funding to offer Healthy Heart Checks through to March 2025, including taking blood pressure, and can visit workplaces across the borough to help more people get information on their heart health.
In 2022, cardiovascular disease (CVD) was the second leading cause of death in the UK, accounting for around 27% of all deaths, while early heart disease deaths have risen to a 14-year high. Around 100,000 people are admitted to hospital annually in the UK due to heart attacks, with 200,000 new diagnoses of heart failure each year.
By inviting the Healthy Stockport team to your workplace, Healthy Heart Checks can help identify early risk factors of CVD among colleagues and highlight ways they can reduce their risk: high blood pressure affects 1 in 4 adults in England, and nearly half of adults have cholesterol above recommended guidelines.
The Checks are available until March 2025 to all employees aged 25 to 84, and will include a 15-minute heart health check (including a blood pressure check), and provide advice and information on how to be healthier.
