Exciting Launch of Black History Month (BHM) Events in Stockport
Stockport’s Race & Equality Partnership (S-REP) is excited to announce the official launch of Black History Month (BHM) events programme for Stockport.
Originating in America, here in the UK October marks the beginning of Black History Month. This national celebration aims to promote and celebrate the contributions of those with African and Caribbean heritage to British society and to foster an understanding of Black history in general.
This year’s theme focuses on “African Americans and the Arts”. The theme is infused with African, Caribbean, and Black American lived experiences and celebrates the important Changemakers who have given back the narrative.
A diverse programme of events will ensure there is something for everyone.
Here are just a few of the events to look forward to:
- Reclaiming wellbeing and mindfulness
- Dance from Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean
- A lively ‘Jollof War’ cooking competition
- Community wealth building and economics sessions
- A focus on black women and menopause
- A fun dominoes night
- Parenting toddlers’ workshop
- A grand finale party!
- and many more.
The calendar will be updated as more events are added.
