The Magpies steal a winner at Marketing Stockport’s 6-a-side tournament

Raising over £7,000 for Stockport County’s Community Trust

160 players pitched up for Marketing Stockport’s 6-a-side Tournament at Stockport County raising funds for their Community Trust

On what began as a grey and damp evening at Stockport County’s Edgeley Park, turned into a black & white celebration after 16 squads of 10 players took to the winning turf at Marketing Stockport’s 6-a-side tournament.

In partnership with Stockport County, the event raised over £7,000 for Stockport County’s Community Trust who are currently looking to ensure every child in Stockport has their own PE kit by funding for a T shirt, shorts, joggers, and a sweatshirt!

The tournament kicked off at 6pm, with 16 teams competing for the coveted Marketing Stockport winner’s trophy.

Cheered on by family and colleagues were teams from Stockport’s Gorvins, IN Accountancy, Sharp, Marketing Stockport, Stockport County, Platform81, musicMagpie, Robinsons, Hallidays Xeinadin, Vernon Building Society, CN Group, Stockport Homes, CAST UK, John Lewis, Starkey and CDL.

Eight teams took an early bath leaving Sharp, Platform81, musicMagpie, Robinsons,

Stockport Homes, CASTUK, John Lewis and CDL to compete in the quarter finals.

After an intense 12 minutes of play, the semi-finalists were decided on penalties resulting in a cruel blow for Robinsons and Sharp.

The final saw a strong Stockport Homes squad take on the mighty Magpies who, after a nail-biting 15 minutes, took the title by 4 goals to 1.
