D Day poetry by local poet Russel Price

D Day poetry by local poet Russel Price

Both my grandads served in the great war,

and I can still hear their voices,

recalling stories however, only brief,

of that terrible conflict.

Time moves on and sadly all those memories

are now consigned to our history books.

Thankfully we still have veterans from the second,

now in their twilight years they are,

as quoted to those brave Battle of Britain pilots, the few.

So please take time and listen to their experiences,

absorb, reflect, but most importantly, never forget!
