Actively retired or semi-retired? Stockport U3A could be just what you need!
Stockport’s University of the Third Age – u3a – launched in 1985 and offers a wide range of activities to local semi-retired or retired people who are eager to learn, to share many educational creative and leisure experiences, to exercise their brain and who are keen to remain in good mental health.
The ‘Third Age’ provides a time of creativity and fulfilment for older people.
Based at Hazel Grove Methodist Church, there is an Open Meeting on the first Wednesday in every month, unless otherwise stated, which is open to all members. During the year, Stockport U3A welcome guest speakers who cover a diverse range of topics.
Currently, their 300 members can choose from more than 20 groups offering new challenges, opportunities, and new friends. From arts and crafts to music making and walking; poetry to scrabble; bridge to line dancing – there really is something to suit all tastes and for everyone to enjoy.
Stockport U3A is looking for new members!
The committee are keen to welcome new members who could join one or more of the many groups that provide mental stimulation, physical wellbeing, and friendship.
Monthly Open Meetings are held at Hazel Grove Methodist Church (Sanctuary) Wesley Street, Hazel Grove, SK7 4JQ. 1.45pm for 2.00pm. If you are interested in finding out more about Stockport U3A, visitors are welcome to come along, to meet members and group organisers, and to get a feel for what the u3a has to offer.
Group leaders make regular announcements to keep members up to date on the activities.
