Sew Stockport Chronicles Exhibition Launch

Sew Stockport Chronicles Exhibition Launch

Sew Stockport Chronicles is community-led, legacy artwork created for the people of Stockport, by the people of Stockport, to reflect on the past and celebrate the future of our inspiring town.

The project was facilitated by Self Care Creatives CIC and funded by Stockport Town of Culture. It opens on February 24th and runs until March 23rd.

The project and the finished piece reflect the heritage of the textile industry and serves to celebrate, reminisce and share memories about our town, building local connections and stronger communities for the future. It’s a mixed media piece but predominantly created using embroidery and textiles as a nod to our past (think Stockport’s very own Bayeux Tapestry!). Its visual style is an adaptation of SCC’s highly popular, wellbeing-focussed “Thread Journal” workshops.

See the artwork & more about the project and Self Care Creatives at Hat Works in the centre of Stockport.
At the launch, from 11:00-15:00, Arc’s monthly drop in Saturday Art Club plus Click and Connect, its photography for wellbeing exhibition will still be on, on its last day. Hat Works Cafe will be open serving food and a range of drinks and snacks.

After the launch, the exhibition is open 10:00-16:00 on Thursdays and Fridays, and 11:00-15:00 on Saturdays March 9th, 16th and 23rd.
