You’re invited to the online launch of Stockport2020

Stockport 2020 speaks of the ingenuity of Stockport and its people. Everyone is welcome to the launch of this wonderful exhibition.

Stockport 2020, a year like no other and during last year Stockport Museums and Stockport Libraries & Archives asked the people of our lovely town for objects and stories to represent their experience of 2020.

Stockport 2020 is a new online exhibition showcasing the creativity, groups and endeavours of the people of Stockport.

At a time when so much was lost, so much was made, and at a time when we were all too separate, this exhibition unites us in sharing our experiences. You are invited to look at the things made, the groups formed, and the objects collected. With live poetry and music, conversation and creativity. While this is a snapshot of Stockport in 2020, it speaks of a positive and creative future for its people and for the town.

Including poetry, calendars, painting, Covid paraphernalia, writing groups, women’s groups, cycle groups and song, the exhibition offers an intimate look at the different way we adapted the space around us when could go nowhere else, the wonderful things we created, when we could no longer do all the things we once did, and at the ways we connected, even from a distance.

This Thursday 10th June we are hosting an online exhibition launch event from 7pm.
