Brinnington Hall Carer drums up memories for former professional musician

Paul gave Ibby lots of information about Steve and his band life and mentioned that  Steve’s brother Nick was also member of the Band (as drummer).

A Care Worker at Brinnington Hall Care Home went beyond the call of duty and pulled out all the stops to help resident Steve recall days gone by when he was a professional drummer.

Senior Carer Ibby Hussain is buddied with resident Steve who lives in the Ground floor household at Brinnington Hall.

Steve used to be professional drummer before moving into the home. He was in numerous bands but lost touch with some of his band members. Ibby decided to do some research to see if he could reconnect Steve with his band members and his passion for Rock and Roll music, something that has always been a massive part of his life.

Ibby discovered that Steve used to be in a band called ‘Eclipse’. He then contacted one of the old band members, Paul  “Manchester Beat”, who lives in Australia. Paul gave Ibby lots of information about Steve and his band life and mentioned that  Steve’s brother Nick was also member of the Band (as drummer).

Ibby then sat with Steve and reminisced with him about his old band days which Steve loved and showed everyone his band pictures that Ibby had found for him.

But Ibby didn’t stop there! He bought Steve a drum set for his Christmas present this year! Steve absolutely loves his new drum kit – his love for drumming is back!

Steve band ECLIPSE was formed in early 1975 with his co-partner and Vocalist Ken Shelmerdine. They were later joined by some more members, including Steve’s brother Rick Henshaw. Rick was also a Drummer like Stephen and the Musical direction of the band was very much Prog Rock field. Steve had previously been a member of bands Paywacket and Shanes till he decided to make his own start with Eclipse.

Steve enjoyed his passion with music and thanks to Ibby, he still can!
