‘Go Wild Families’ with free activity packs for kids in lockdown
Go on a 'safari' and create your own 5 senses trail. Build a bug hotel or create your own 'stained glass leaves'. Build a bird box or try dying your own material with natural dyes.
City of Trees have launched ‘Go wild for families’ – loads of great, free activity packs to help kids (and big kids) stay occupied during lockdown. Stay indoors or discover the great outdoors.
There are six themes to choose from:
- Arts & Crafts
- DIY
- For schools
- Outdoors
- Seasonal
- Spotter sheets
Have a go at seed sowing & growing; join in the great woodland and hedge survey; discover how the Stone Age people built their houses with ‘wattle & daub’; learn how to be a tree detective! Go on a ‘safari’ and create your own 5 senses trail. Build a bug hotel or create your own ‘stained glass leaves’. Build a bird box or try dying your own material with natural dyes.
Download one of the Spotter sheets – spot a bud, a tree, a bird.
Have a go at making magic potions; a teddy beat teepee; a shed for the fairies to keep their tools!
This is the perfect way for your children to learn in a fun way. The outdoor activities are a great way to keep healthy and stimulated in periods of lockdown.
All the activities can be downloaded for FREE here – Go Wild Families
City of Trees is an innovative and exciting movement, set to re-invigorate Greater Manchester’s landscape by restoring underused, unloved woodland and planting a tree for every person that lives in the City Region, within a generation.
We believe that trees are essential to the future of our towns and cities, and a City of Trees is one that is healthier, more resilient and more prosperous. Find out more about the benefits of trees.
This ambitious movement is securing a much greener, more resilient and pleasant environment that everyone can enjoy. You can find out more about the history of the movement on our timeline.
Our goals
- 3 million trees planted, one for every person across Greater Manchester
- 2,000 hectares of unmanaged woodland brought back into use for the community
- Connect people to the trees and woods around them
What we do
At it’s heart City of Trees is a movement, bringing people, organisations and companies together to green Greater Manchester. We also deliver a number of projects on the ground throughout the region focussed around; planting trees and managing woodlands; urban orchards; school projects, and GreenStreets (planting street trees; greening grey streets).
